My name is David Beaver and I'm the owner/artisan of DCB Customs.  My passion for creating started early and has taken me down a variety of paths in it's pursuit.   I enjoy being able to express myself through my work and I am thrilled to be able to share my vision through a medium that is functional, tactile and beautiful.  I live in Southern California with my lovely wife and two crazy children.  I've spent the last fifteen years as a cabinetmaker and scenic fabricator, giving me a unique opportunity to work with wood, composites, plastics, fabrics and metals.  I enjoy knives of all types, though the elegant lines of culinary knives are some of my favorites.  As a family, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen and bringing my art to that environment seemed a natural fit. 

​  All my products are personaly designed and individually handcrafted, which takes time but is hugely rewarding in that each piece is unique and no two are ever entirely alike.  Kitchen knives are made via stock removal with heat treatment being the only operation not performed in - house.  I'm currently working with AEB-L and CPM 154 stainless steels and 52100 carbon steel with additional options to be added shortly.  I use a mixture of natural and synthetic material for handles, with a majority of natural materials being stabilized for maximum durabiity.  

​ My grandfather began woodworking in his retirement, making gifts for the family, many of which I still have.  The train that he made me for Christmas now belongs to my son.  I started woodworking with his tools  and continue to use many of them today.   I sincerely hope to be able to share my art in the same way that he did.
